Message from Danah:
AS THE FOUNDER OF ART INDEED:
I believe I came to this type of work because of my life learnings, my instinct and passion to create, my gift of intuition, and my drive to connect and build community. Art InDeed has allowed me to partner with many organizations and work with a variety of populations. As an artist working in various community-based settings, I see how imagination and creativity can engage and inspire and heal people and communities. I believe that the creative process is not only an exploration of themes and technical processes, but also an opportunity for personal self expression, transformation and, community revival.
Creativity is natural! It is instinctive and innate. The art-making process is full of joy, surprise, invention and fun! At Art InDeed, our practice focuses on the PROCESS of art-making and engaging creativity for self-discovery, and using the elements of art and design in an intuitive way - exploring the creative "now." This not only increases the artistic and creative skills of the learners, and increases access to the arts, but also builds pride in accomplishment and inspires hope.
I believe the creative process gives voice and form to intrinsic concepts. It promotes a feeling of renewal and pride in accomplishment, and it builds connection to: self, others, the environment and the community. It is a truly, wonderfully engaging creative adventure for anyone who participates in our programs!
AS AN ARTIST, HEALER & INTUITIVE: www.intuitiveartistdanah.com (site still under construction!!)
I create to connect. When I hold a paint brush and see the paint colours I feel a sensation of aliveness within me. Sometimes I create with an image, a concept, subject or experience in mind that I may want to explore, but most of the time I create intuitively. When I create intuitively I am connecting to the moment, something alive, or all that is within me that wants to be transformed and expressed. Painting this way is revealing, spiritual and healing; therefore, I like to describe my work as mixed with light! It is this light that I know and feel that has inspired me to liberate in all participants at Art InDeed. Are you ready for a fun and powerful journey?! When creating in the moment you will discover creativity and its boundlessness, and how it offers all possibilities! I believe this is where all things begin, grow, come alive, and become whole again. Creativity is a wonder-full adventure of remembering the truth of who WE ALL ARE: whole, healthy and wise. I hope that my paintings inspire love, truth, happiness and grace.
